At Cannington Physiotherapy, we have been successfully treating and managing patients with symptoms of vertigo or dizziness for many years. Vertigo is a symptom rather than a disorder and can be caused by imbalances or complications in a variety of different balance systems.
The most common cause of dizziness is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or (BPPV). BPPV refers to a disorder of the inner ear (often only one ear) where a mismatch of sensory information leads to a feeling of spinning. This can be triggered by simply rolling over in bed and can occur without any known cause. BPPV causes severe rotational dizziness leading to nausea and/or vomiting. This is often brought on by changes in head position and can last 30 seconds or more. BPPV is very treatable and can often resolve in just a few sessions.
When booking an appointment please inform the receptionist of your condition so that they may book you with a vestibular physiotherapist as a priority patient.
